Bowen Therapy

Bowen Therapy

THOMAS A. BOWEN (1916-1982)

Tom Bowen, an Australian, pioneered his technique of bodywork after World War II. He had very little formal education and was neither trained nor qualified in any modality.  However, he had a "gift" in understanding the importance of soft tissue manipulation as well as the talent and determination to develop it.   From humble beginnings, he built a highly successful clinic and initiated a school of bodywork that has spread across the oceans in various forms bringing relief to thousands of pain sufferers throughout the world.

How is Bowen Therapy Performed?

Bowen can be performed through light clothing and consists of a series of moves with fingertips and thumbs across specific points on the body. There are certain rest periods during which the body is given time to process these moves.
